Bute Befrienders reshapes its services due to outbreak of Covid-19
Given the developments re the Corona Virus Bute Elderly Befrienders decided to suspend all group outings and 1-2-1 visits and restructure the project as a telephone befriending service only. The rationale behind this is the information stemming from yesterday's press conference by the UK Prime Minister. The rise of Covid-19 cases will happen. Moreover, the Isle of Bute has a larger proportion of elderly compared to the national average and Befrienders' clients are classed as more vulnerable.
Our Outreach Worker will work closely with other agencies and organisations in order to respond to people's needs.
An expanded volunteer pool for telephone befriending - nicknamed the "T-Group" - has been set up to deal with a possible growing demand by people who feel and are isolated and lonely.
